Guided Reading is a temporary
system of providing learner support,
which guides a group of readers
through the decoding and meaningmaking
process to ensure and facilitate
comprehension and language development.
During guided reading, the teacher
generally reads aloud in the Target
Language. Students listen and link
meaning in a number of ways: chorally
as a class, in small groups, individually,
with gestures, etc.
Guided reading is a natural,
interactive process that allows the
teacher to check for comprehension
and reassures fragile (weaker) readers
that you will not leave them stranded in
a state of confusion and frustration.
