Reader by Gerhard Maroscher
SHORT STORIES GERMAN 2.1 READER contains 28 original short stores with two of the stories repeated in a different tense. There is no central theme, nor are there central characters. Some stories are in present tense and some in conversational past.
At the beginning of each story there is a list of the target vocabulary for that story. In each story there are also words/phrases in bold type which are provided to challenge students. At the end of each story the students can find the English meanings of the words/phrases in bold type. The stories come with graduated grammatical structures.
The target vocabulary used in the stories builds upon itself. For example the tenth story uses not only the target vocabulary for that story, but also uses vocabulary already learned in the previous nine stories. The last and longest story utilizes a significant percentage of the target vocabularies of the 27 previous stories. At the end of each story is a list of questions about the story. There are attractive sketches that help tell the stories.
The target vocabulary closely mirrors the vocabulary of Blaine Ray’s LOOK I CAN TALK MORE! (Such a Coincidence section). The reader is 5.5 x 8.5 inches and 91 pages. Stories average 365 words.
