Chapter 1

Whether you are in a 1-iPad or 1:1 iPad classroom, you can do great things with iPad apps!

  • For a 1-iPad classroom, you will need to purchase the correct dongle to 
connect your iPad to your projector or monitor. Another option is to 
purchase Apple’s AirPlay software so that you can project over WiFi.
  • For a 1:1 iPad classroom, students can use the application on their own 
 
Educreations is a whiteboard style app that allows your students to create slide-show style doodles complete with sound recording capabilities. 
Classroom uses include:
  • Doodle the chapter as we read. When we finish, record a summary in 
the target language of what we read.
  • Doodle your favorite part of the chapter and record a summary of that
  • Groups of 4-5 doodle a re-tell of the chapter and record a summary. 
Groups then move table to table watching each other’s re-tells.
  • Doodle a character’s major decisions in the chapter and record a 
summary of the action. Share the recording with a group or the whole class.

  • For a 1:1 iPad classroom, students can use the application on their own 
 
Explain Everything is another whiteboard style app that allows your students to create slide-show style doodles complete with sound recording capabilities. A huge perk of Explain Everything is that the sound recording on each slide is separate! No need to redo the whole project because of a mistake on a later slide! 
Classroom uses include:
  • Doodle the chapter as we read. When we finish, record a summary in 
the target language of what we read.
  • Doodle your favorite part of the chapter and record a summary of that
  • Groups of 4-5 doodle a re-tell of the chapter and record a summary.

I Tell a Story is a free app that allows users to narrate and record their own stories. User friendly, it is a great choice for students of all ages! 
Classroom uses include:
  • Doodle and retell this chapter.
  • Doodle and retell your favorite part of this chapter.
  • Groups of 4-5 doodle and record a re-tell of the chapter. Groups then 
move table to table watching each other’s re-tells.
  • Doodle a character’s major decisions in the chapter and narrate each. 
Share the recording with a group or the whole class.
  • Re-tell the novel to this point.

  • For a 1-iPad classroom, you will need to purchase the correct dongle to connect your iPad to your projector or monitor. Another option is to purchase Apple’s AirPlay software so that you can project over WiFi.
  • For a 1:1 iPad classroom, students can use the application on their own devices. 
There are MANY free lie detector apps available from the APP store. Try downloading one to your iPad or to several of the students’ iPads. 
Have students tell lies and truths about the story in Spanish and see if the app can tell the difference.
